Top 10 "Recycled" Nerdom Actors

The seas of western Hemisphere nerdom are teaming with terrific and intelligent movies waiting to be made, while mainstream Hollywood is not teaming with terrific and intelligent people; which is why nerds recycle so many actors from other recognizable roles. Here are my top 10 favorites in order:

#10- Carl Urban
Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a Rider of Rohan!
Well actually... he's both

#9- Hugo Weaving
Elrond and Red Skull and Megatron and Agent Smith... and also the character from V for Vendetta which I have yet to see...

#8- Robert Downey Jr.
I'm not a fan of the Iron Man character, but Downey was born to play it. He was also a great Sherlock Holmes and apparently he also played Charlie Chaplain in the 90s, which I'm dying to see.

#7- Leonard Nimoy
Mostly for Star Trek OS, but also for a ton of voice acting in everything from Atlantis to Transformers to Futurama.

 #6- Harrison Ford
He's Han Solo and Indiana Jones. You can't beat that.

#5- Dominic Monaghan
He was Merry in LotR and Charlie in LOST. He also showed up in a Wolverine movie briefly before being killed to death.

#4- Carey Mulligan
Literary nerds recognize her as Kitty in Pride & Prejudice, Ada in Bleak House, and Daisy in The Great Gatsby. Whovians may also recognize her from "Blink."

#3- Gillian Anderson
Of course from the X-Files, but also from the BBC adaptions of Charles Dickens' Bleak House and Great Expectations.

 #2- Sir Patrick Stewart
I'm not a Next Gen. girl but I love me some Picard. He is also Professor X and a huge Shakespeare buff. If comedy is more your speed, you may also recognize his voice as Deputy Director Bullock in American Dad.

#1 - Benedict Cumberbatch
I really don't understand how you can be a nerd and dislike him. Besides being an accomplished Shakespearean stage actor, rumored to be Dr. Strange in 2016, and partial to historical roles (everything from Humphery Bogart to Vincent Van Gogh) he has also breathed new life as a major character into every single one of my fandoms (i.e.- The Hobbit, Star Trek, and Sherlock Holmes) which otherwise had been neglected and left to rot for the past 10+ years.
The only thing he needs to do now is a cameo in some kind of X-Files reboot though I could totally see the  producer pulling some stunt like dropping the cold war and JFK conspiracies and turning him into a 30 year old version of the smoking man in a love triangle with Scully.

But who the heck am I kidding? I'd watch the crap outta that too!

Honorable mentions to Mark Hamill for being Luke Skywalker and The Joker and also the entire Inception cast because most of them also showed up in the equally-awesome Dark Knight Trilogy and rocked in that as well.
